Synthetic vitamins cause faulty hormonal imprinting during the perinatal period, impacting health outcomes in adult age


Exposure to synthetic lipid-soluble vitamins can adversely impact health outcomes later in life. The study, published in Physiology International, also indicated that these adverse effects impact the multiple organ systems.

  • Taking lipid-soluble vitamins can cause faulty perinatal hormonal imprinting. This is because these vitamins are hormones that can be directly bound by hormone receptors. Another factor is their manner by which they connect with molecules, which also affects hormone receptors.
  • Exposure to these vitamins after birth can result in faulty perinatal hormonal imprinting, a condition similar to that found in synthetic endohormones.
  • The effects are lifelong and may result in the following complications:
    • An altered sexuality
    • Changes in brain function and development, immunity, and bone development
    • A higher risk of getting fractures
  • Hormonal imprinting, being the epigenetic process that it is, is not limited to one lifetime: The consequences of one-time exposure to fat-soluble vitamins are passed on from one generation to the next.
  • The effect, however, varies from one vitamin to the next because hormones differ in the way they react to these vitamins. Despite the differences, perinatal treatments occur frequently and are sometimes forced.

Research showed that the delayed negative effect of faulty perinatal hormonal imprinting caused by vitamins should be considered.
