Almost half of those infected with coronavirus in NYC are under 45

Despite claims that the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) is only really infecting the elderly, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has announced that nearly half of all cases have actually been confirmed in people under the age of 45.

The latest data from this government agency shows that among the roughly 16,000 confirmed cases of the virus in the Big Apple, about 7,100, or 46 percent, are younger folks. In this under-45 age group, about nine percent have had to be hospitalized, while five have died.

These figures are a rough match with what Italy is seeing, where a sizeable number of non-elderly people are succumbing to the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19). Both old and young, in other words, are susceptible to it, as it apparently doesn’t discriminate.

Another thing to keep in mind is that those dying from the coronavirus (COVID-19) aren’t all senior citizens. More than one in five deaths in New York City, it turns out, are in people between the ages of 45 and 64.

Also similar to what’s taking place in Italy, many of those dying from the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) – some 95 percent – regardless of age, were suffering from at least one underlying health condition before contracting the bug. Several of these cases are currently under investigation.

While the United States was once just a blip on the radar when it came to the number of infections with the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19), the latest statistics show that we are probably now a world leader.

The official numbers would appear to show that the U.S. now has more Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) infections than any other country, while New York has more cases than any other state.

In fact, New York currently has about 45 percent of the total number of coronavirus infections in the entire country, with more than 125,000 confirmed cases, according to researchers from Johns Hopkins University in Maryland.

At the same time, New York has been conducting far more tests than any other state, which could explain these higher numbers. This also suggests that there could be many more cases of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) in America than anyone really knows, and that they simply haven’t yet been identified.

As of this writing, there have been more than 1,000 deaths from the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) in New York alone, according to Governor Andrew “infanticide” Cuomo, who recently warned that the novel virus would be hitting New York like a bullet train. No other state in the country comes anywhere close to this number, by the way.

According to Deborah Birx, who coordinates the White House Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) response effort, about 28 percent of the tests conducted in the New York City metropolitan area have come back positive. This is more than three times the eight percent positive rate identified throughout the rest of the country.

It’s important to keep in mind that in New York City, authorities have mandated that doctors only test people for the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) who are seriously ill and may require hospitalization. Elsewhere throughout the country, tests are being conducted on a broader range of people.

What this suggests is that the actual Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) infection toll even in New York is probably significantly higher than the official numbers reflect. And as more people become ill in the coming days, this will all come out into the open.
