A website operated by the German government had been encouraging children to take puberty blockers and pushing gender-related ideologies before it was taken down entirely.
The “rainbow portal” operated by the German Federal Ministry of Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth states that a child whose body “does not fit with their feelings” can undergo hormone therapies – courtesy of the government. The portal also dismissed parents opposing their child’s use of hormone therapy drugs as simply promoting “nonsense.”
Moreover, the portal mentioned that there are more than just two genders, implying that puberty blockers are the key to “transition” to a new sex. It also pushed for gender surgery – a fancy name for genital mutilation – in case puberty blockers are not enough.
“Do you feel more comfortable as a girl? Or do you feel more comfortable as a boy? The important thing is: You should feel good now. It does not matter how you will live in 10 years,” the webpage stated.
The ministry’s rainbow portal also espoused woke-ism by urging young people to find a “good doctor” who will use their “new name” and preferred pronouns. These young people should not allow their parents to get between them and their new gender, as “only they know who they really are,” according to the portal.
German social media users quickly reacted, pointing out the stealthy edits done on the portal before it was taken down entirely and relaunched.
In one instance, one section of the site encouraged young children to take puberty blockers. A notice advising children to see a doctor if puberty blockers might help them was later added in, following critics’ worries that the rainbow portal did not put enough warnings about how dangerous these “special drugs” might be.
Meanwhile, a recent promotional video by the Planned Parenthood Action Fund (PPAF) received criticisms in the U.S. as it advised teenagers to delay puberty and take hormone blockers. (Related: Promotional video urges “confused” teens to delay puberty using chemical hormone blockers.)
According to a NewsPunch report, the video addresses teenagers who believe they may be intersex – a person born with a combination of both male and female biological traits. “Your gender identity is real. You should be the one to decide what changes you want to make to your body,” PPAF highlighted in the clip.
“If you are transgender or nonbinary you may find that your puberty experiences do not line up with your gender identity or how you see yourself. Some people decide on hormones or surgeries to help their bodies match up to their gender identity or how they feel inside about themselves.”
The video advert explained that puberty blockers “work like a stop sign by holding the hormones testosterone and estrogen that cause puberty changes like facial hair growth and periods.”
But the plug only aroused various negative reactions as these drugs that suppress puberty could cause innumerable detrimental side effects.
The Food and Drug Administration issued an alert back in July regarding the puberty-blocking agent gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) agonist following reports of children suffering from brain swelling and vision loss after taking the hormone treatment. Also, the American College of Pediatrics warned that GnRH can aggravate gender dysphoria and may cause mental illness, including “depression and other emotional disturbances related to suicide.”
But PPAF insisted that they are harmless. “Puberty blockers are safe and can give you more time to figure out what feels right for you, your body and your gender identity,” it claimed.
