Coronavirus containment no longer possible in the USA, says former FDA head

Remember when the federal government wanted us all to believe that the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19) here in America wasn’t ever going to happen? Well, not only has this novel disease arrived, proving the White House wrong, but it has arrived with a vengeance, having fully broken containment – meaning there’s really no stopping whatever it chooses to do, at this point.

According to former U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) head Scott Gottlieb, “we’re past the point of containment” as a nation. The only thing left to do, in his view, is “to implement broad mitigation strategies, including no more large gatherings, no more going to school, and possibly no more “unnecessary” travel.

“The next two weeks are really going to change the complexion in this country,” Gottlieb warned in an eerily foreboding public statement. “We’ll get through this, but it’s going to be a hard period. We’re looking at two months, probably, of difficulty.”

U.S. Surgeon General Jerome Adams seems to agree, adding in his own statement that individual communities need to be coming up with their own unique mitigation plans before panic fully sets in and things really start to unravel on a societal scale.

“And that’s going to be different in Seattle than what it’s going to be in Jackson, Mississippi,” Adams told CNN‘s “State of the Union” about how it’s all going to look. “But communities need to have that conversation and prepare for more cases so we can prevent more deaths.”

At the time these statements were both made, a cruise ship with nearly 3,000 stranded passengers was floating off the coast of Northern California, preparing to dock on Monday. And in Washington, the state’s 19th death from the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19) was also reported, this one in central Washington – the first known death from the novel disease in Washington outside the Seattle area.

With the word endemic now being thrown around as a descriptor for the current situation in Washington state – and eventually the entire country, it’s important to point out – many are starting to wonder what’s going to happen next.

The latest death in Washington, which occurred in the middle part of the state, reportedly occurred in an elderly individual who had not traveled anywhere outside of the country anytime recently. What this suggests is that the Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19) is now being spread within communities, and is no longer something you can only catch by coming into contact with someone who recently traveled to China.

“… with an incubation period of up to 27 days, ‘coronavirus Marys’ are already on the loose, spreading the disease to others proving the very real possibility of the virus being passed on to others by people who don’t even know they have been exposed to it,” warns All News Pipeline‘s Stefan Stanford.

“… we see every reason to continue to prepare for the spread of this in America as if there’ll be no coming back to what we now understand as ‘normal.'”

It’s important to keep in mind that the number of Wuhan coronavirus (CoVid-19) cases in Washington state doubled in a single day recently, suggesting that it’s really starting to pick up steam and take hold here in the U.S.

“… one study is predicting that in a ‘very best-case scenario,’ more than 15 million people globally will be killed by this outbreak with a 2.4 trillion dollar hit to the global economy,” Stanford adds.
